But its not a holden.

richard198, May 1, 1:57am
Holdens don't handle!

johnf_456, May 1, 2:11am
You will get a telling off for that watch the space

johnf_456, May 1, 9:38am
Yeah but isn't holden best no matter what.

remus2, May 10, 8:52am
the difference is in 20 yr a holden or ford is scrap metal and a merc is still a merc! I own a C36, 17 yr old and makes me happy every day!

vjregal770, May 10, 8:57am
Even after you've paid for your mechanic's new Armani suit!

But as long as you enjoy your Beirut taxi, all is well.

grangies, May 10, 9:12am
A few worn oujt Merc parts,is better than an entire worn out Aussie Ford or Holden.

gammelvind, May 10, 9:16am
Don't get the passion people have about Holdens, they are just family wagons or rep mobiles, competent cars but nothing special. Fords are no better or worse, all just ordinary cars.

vjregal770, May 10, 9:21am
So are most Mercs. Without the the AMG gear, a C32 is just a C-Class. Just as an HSV R8 is just another Commy once the HSV gear is gone.

Both are used as taxis or as family sedans in different parts of the world. They're just another everyday bleh-mobile, seen in a million carparks (or taxi-ranks) in Auckland, Frankfurt, Sydney or Beirut.

So what's the difference!

vjregal770, May 10, 9:25am
PS - I don't own either a Holden, Ford or Merc.

vjregal770, May 10, 9:27am
Explain. Or is it a "badge" thing!

(A few worn out Merc bits probably costs as much as worn but still complete and usable Ford or Holden anyway!)

gunhand, May 10, 9:40am
May go ok but pretty boringlooking in the scheme of things.

remus2, May 10, 9:42am
yes, it is something like this- take one holden or ford to the AMG factory for a full upgrade and you'll feel the difference!(this is not possible anymore since 1997 when MB bought AMG)
the costs are not bigger than for any similar size car! it is just in your mind.but the mecanics yes, most of the time are wearing suits

mugenb20b, May 10, 9:47am
No. actually it wouldn't.

mcfc11, May 10, 9:50am
Sorry to burst your bubble but 0-60 is 5.8!

gunhand, May 10, 9:51am
Thats slow for a so called performance car.

trouser, May 10, 9:59am
Quoted figures are 5.2 to 62mph with 2 adults and luggage. 4.5 with just driver. 349hp and 332ft/lbs.

Quite the car for about 20k.

remus2, May 10, 10:01am
might be slow now but in 1994 when c36 come on the market what other car will match it!

chris_051, May 10, 10:11am
E34 M5
And the STi might beat it to 100kmh by 0.2 of a second, but the Mercedes will pull those times all day, the WRX will manage 10 at best before the clutch shatters or the g/box throws the countershaft out.

remus2, May 10, 10:28am
nobody manage to get the E34 M5 under 6 sec .yet.may be down hill

chris_051, May 10, 10:41am
Plenty of reviews of the time had the M5 under 6 seconds 0-60/2 mph.

vjregal770, May 10, 11:03am
Truth be told, if I were looking for a NEW super-sedan, I'd get a Henessey Cadillac CTS-V 700 (700 = 700hp) . That's a 3.3 second 4-door, and as different from the pack as the C32/36 AMGs are from the sea of Falcodores.

But yes, for 20 grand, your AMG is a hell of a lot of car for the money.

EDIT - Actually no, I'd get this instead - http://roadtesttv.wordpress.com/2010/09/23/2011-hennessey-cadillac-cts-v-v800-800-horsepower-road-test-tv/

foxdonut, May 10, 11:05am
Anyone in Wellington seen that retard that drives the old shitter 300 merc with the rice kit and home made tui advert on the rear window! something about it being a real AMG or some equally retarded shit like that! Hangs out around a school in J'ville.

foxdonut, May 10, 11:08am
Word on the playground is the Bugatti Galibier is going to be built.

Hennessey build time machines, but the Bug'll have an interior that isn't made out of styrofoam and recycled milk bottle plastic.

vjregal770, May 10, 11:14am
The Bug can have all the exclusive material under the sun (and it should for the X million price tag).

It's still ugly as hell.

US interior plastics may not be up to Euro quality (nor are Japanese, Korean or Australian), but it's half the price of a new M5 and twice as cool.
