Has anyone ever used FuelStar?

and if so, have you got the (outrageous) fuel consumption savings that they claim!

bill-robinson, May 10, 1:10pm
you mean you are not using it!

pollymay, May 10, 1:14pm
I once put a fuelstar on and raced chuck norris in the 1/4 mile. We took off and Chuck flew down the 1/4 mile in 2 seconds. Too bad I won. Thanks fuelstar!

i didn't know Fuelstars were fuel economy units, i just thought they were lead substitutes. as a lead substitute unit they do work, i ran a 10.6 cr engine on 91 & no detonation.

#1-Best to check to see how much fuel savings the world's auto makers are getting out of 'em. They must be standard OEM fitment on all cars by now.

Dr who put one in the Tardis, he now gets 7 centuries more per gallon.

ive fitted quite a few over the years with NO complaints, on my own vehicles it has made a difference, but i would say about 10% improvement,,most ive fitted to stop valve seat recession, which they do 100%,also they keep the combustion chamber very clean!

Anti knock and a potentially an economy increase can be had however. but not with fuelstar. Water injection is where its at for that kind of thing.

Yip. Used on a couple of V8 Rovers to prevent pinking without timing retardation when fuel went unleaded in the mid 90s. They work well (in my experience) but are grossy overpriced for what they are.

mike107, May 10, 3:15pm
AA did not like it!

wrong2, May 10, 3:31pm
dunno about the fuel saving, but the one i used made my motors sharper on the throttle response, & generally more happy when under load

it left my carbie filters with a fine grey soot-like substanceafter a while

wrong2, May 10, 3:32pm
yeah, but they ran it on a bench

the thing is supposed to get all the vibrations your car/bike gets running down the road

franc123, May 10, 3:39pm
Who believes anything the AA says! It's easy to say something is crap when you run the farcical test that they did on it!A bench run Holden 202 I think it was with freshly cut valves and seats run at full noise for hours on end, they didn't even bother to adhere to the fitting instructions for the fuelstar unit either.Plus they were never going to say get them fitted en masse all the while corporate bedmate BP was flogging Valvemaster at a nice fat markup.

rsr72, May 10, 3:46pm
It's really just an old car thing is it, or is it a genuine fuel saver!

autocars1, May 10, 7:27pm
Yeah me too.made no difference to the petrol, just that instead of squirting those tubes in.

rsr72, May 10, 8:28pm
Their publicity/advertising emphasises fuel savings as it's main feature.

321mat, May 11, 10:22am
Exactly. And yet, in spite of my initial enthusiasm for this product, I cannot find anyone who has actually experienced better MPG.

It seems, from my own research, that it (or a very similar product) was invented in the 40's, to help cure detonation caused by poor quality fuel, as all the good stuff (Boron - anyone remember that!) was going into the motors of Spitfires to keep Jerry Kraut at bay.

pfemstn, May 11, 10:41am
fuelstar type catylist was used during ww2 to enablespifires and the like to fly with inferior fuel. as when operating in some oversea,s countries the fuel was of poor quality, it is a proven product in this case! no one however mentioned any fuel savings ,probably because it didnt matter!

dave653, May 11, 12:16pm
I fitted mine in '86, was travelling Whg to NP on a regular basis, got an extra 4mpg, cleaner and smoother running, no Valvemaster and can run 91 if I want. I took the head off after 4 years and had NO valve recession.

Fit a fuel star & thosefuel saving tyres plus all the other "fuel saving devices "being sold & you will have a nil fuel consumption .
