yeah i reckon. Last time I checked, they are made mainly for the US and Australian market as camrys are pretty popular over there. Only a few came out as RHD, probably from Australia! not sure.
power-wise, they're not that strong, from forums (Toyotanation), they said the engine produces 240hp and 320Nm. Not that impressive for a 3 litre engine, really, but then again, the engine is only boosted for about 5 psi. Like I said, it's for someone who wants something different.
Hmmm I own a 5S-FE Camry. it apparently does not have a turbo. 5psi. Hmmm do I care if a $1500 car blows up!

non intercooled!

Put that motor in an mr2. It is prolly only at 4psi or so, not a blazingly high amount. A proper ECU and stuff and it could do a lot more

D'OH. It's a SUPER CHARGER . not a Turbo. Turbo's benefit greatly from an intercooler because it's the EXHAUST that drives the turbine. Super charges are driven directly from the engine crank
SUPER CHARGER 4agzed are intercooled and a few others are mate

Huh!Last time I checked 240hp was 180kw, a stock 3.8 VS ecotec falls far short of that. The peak torque figure is about right though.

LOL nice try. Those things don't even make 200hp. Even the supercharged VS only makes a tad over 220hp.

Waste of time. Stick with the 3sgte. The 3VZ is a shit motor.
pollymay,
May 8, 2:56pm
It's an MZ not a VZ. The 3sgte is a small 2 litre that sounds like an altezza witha fart can ;)

How big is a big 2 litre!
The 3S-GTE makes slightly more power and torque in its stock form of that era with 2/3's the displacement.Any engine can sound crap if you go throwing a rice cannon on the exit.

If it was all about hp why do people even have V8s in stuff when supercharged or turbo 4 n 6 cylinders can kick their ass. Why would someone drive an MG roadster if a modern camry family car is faster in every way. Peeople do things beyond "but but the 3s makes more POWA"
I have a turbo, I'm selling it after putting the money in and keeping the V6 mr2. The V6 is more my style and enjoyable.

Cool story bro.

the act of compressing air makes produces heat, so a super charger will heat up the intake charge too, same as a turbo.

Nice try scotty. I don't even own a Japanese car. I do have a Japanese dirt bike though.

Camrys are just as horrid as old dunnydores.

I like them cause they are bland. Blah blah headgasket blah blah fiat punto. They just blend into traffic and have saved me many a ticket by just being boring as shit. Plus replacement panels have been stupid cheap when uninsured yobos back into me and take off. It's near nothing to fix and the colours are so bland and the same you can pick them up anytime which makes for no hassles colour matching.
I've had some much superior cars for reliability and fuel economy (gasp one was an old ford o_O) but in other respects they were a pain in the ass. MkI mr2 areapain in the ass to get matching panels cheap for now, mkII not so bad. The old ford was reliable as hell but clean panels in the right colour unfaded were hard to find. The isuzu gemini was rock solid and didn't cost me a cent but rusted bad, the celica was a crap magnet, bmw electrical nightmare, telstar gutless POS, mazda rusted. I'm indifferent to driving one, suits me fine. Still want a volvo or a commie V6 next, try my hand at driving them rather than fixing them :)

ha hahahahahahahahaha
is that why quite a few s/c setups come intercooled factory superchargers do produce heat try putting your hand on my superchargers standard intercooler after a good few laps at manfeild its dam hot

Cos they like the sound when they nail the loud pedal!I was saying that you write the 3S off as a fart producer despite it producing similar figures in stock form. ie with no stupid shiny cannon in the exhaust system.
pollymay,
May 9, 1:24pm
Lol it's still a 4 cylinder, 1mzfe with an exhaust and short intake have a nice bark as they gulp air. The 3sgte sounds like a whistle through the intake. It's like turbo hondas vs sidedraft carb'd escorts, it's more than exhaust note.

Are you sure! I thought the VS was less than the 151kW of the VT. 151kW = just over 200hp. The 3.8 has about 305nM of torque from memory.
My 2L Galant family sedan from 1991 makes 240hp and 300Nm. Would you say that's a fair comparison too!
