a woody!!! Thank you in advance. I have an old wooden caravan and until recently was in a garage, though at 80 years old still effected. I have her exposed to some elements though under a tree etc. and no leaks and dry as a bone and she is in Central Otago. I put a wood protection formula on her a couple of years back and it has been fine.but this is either going to have to be done again.or would you varnish her!!!

it still has it's original paint on it and the same old 1930's colours which I was hoping to retain. I suppose i could seek the same colour and use a good enamel based paint.thanks.

I like to sit alone and polish my woody.

I would use the wood treatment again. Varnish in our high UV climate is a no no.
Even in places like the northeastern US, varnish jobs on boats need doing every second year at best, the anal types do it every year.

I would never varnish wood for outside use, my last boat had varnished timber with 6 coats of polyurethane and I was constantly maintaining it, if you want to keep the look of woodgrain a good quality furniture oil is the best in my opinion, easy to wipe additional coats on later to maintain the look

yeah.I did wonder about all of that because in time varnish starts drying out and cracking and worse in Otago weather,.O.K. that's cool.I'll either repaint with oil base base in similar colours or go for the wood treatment again.
