Check for old Jap stickers advising cambelt change at 280000kms .

doriandarby, May 4, 9:19pm
3000km a year means lots of short trips done - isnt that bad for a rotary!

cuda.340, May 4, 9:20pm
it's a rota, it'll be a sticker for one of it's rebuilds

foxdonut, May 4, 9:21pm
eeerrr.

tshop, May 4, 9:23pm
So the original engine is in a 8 second race car, hmmmmm

pollymay, May 4, 10:30pm
You work at repco don't you!

ginga4lyfe, May 4, 11:12pm
yes and no, less short trips means you dont have far to walk if something goes wrong, and yes if it died, it would cost a fortune to rebuild, lol jokes, the only problem i know on those new renesis engines is that they flood REALLYYYY easily and require new plugs if it does flood!

xacoon, May 5, 5:08am
hahaha check how many people didnt quite get this. well done

loose.unit8, May 5, 8:19am
Really!Doubt it.Flooding was a problem with the series 4-5 rx7 but was basically fixed after that. Can't think of any reason any engine would need new plugs after being flooded

therafter1, May 5, 8:24am
They don't have a belt anyway, they have a chain lol

therafter1, May 5, 8:25am
If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is !

morrisman1, May 5, 9:57am
its about ready to blow up

loose.unit8, May 5, 11:01am
What's the interior like! The kms are only one indication

jerichord, May 6, 6:24am
been rodny wayned here in nz, car dealers know all about that

noodleman4, May 6, 8:50am
Flooding usually occurs if you back an RX8 out of garage turn off to say wash car then try and start, just dont turn off till car has warmed up.
I was looking at buying one of these and it was one of the most asked newb qs on RX8 forums.

loose.unit8, May 6, 9:59am
Is it as easy to clear as in the batman!i.e turn it over with foot to floor on accelerator!

quickbuck, May 6, 10:07am
Well, apparently not.
We were looking at one too, but unfortunately for the car salesman, it had flooded and would refuse to fire at all. Yes, my first reaction was to put foot flat on floor, and try it, but no joy.
He came back to us a couple of days later asking if we still wanted to test drive it.
Ended up going for a Clubbie. A Real shame for the Mazda, as I do like them. The Clubbie tows trailers much better anyway ;-)

bitsy_boffin, May 6, 2:30pm
Earlier ones had a problem with a weak starter motor from memory, and the coils are also prone to wearing out, the result of both of these is that getting a flooded RX8 started may be tricky if you are have one of those bad starters or dicky coils.

They are easily upgraded/replaced of course.

mcscottwgtn, May 6, 5:18pm
Maybe it was imported bent, spent some time in a back yard garage. Find it hard to believe the kms with that old nz 2009 plate on it.
Its got blinders on it - so the owner likes to hammer it, and probably enjoys driving.
Nice looking car, but dont like those jap number plate holders on some imports.

tshop, Jan 20, 5:50am
Just worked it out that's about 9Kms a day, I couldn't drive one of these less than that in an hour!
