Any WOF inspectors in here?

Im looking at putting an electrical ribbon/wire demister on the front window of my street/club racing car. Its a 1972 ford capri, and when it was built the electric fan heater was disabled, and doesnt go now. So the question im asking, is would it still pass a warrant with the demister on the window, or would it fail on obstruction of the CVA!
Cheers, Ben

Would fail, if its inside the cva. Why not get fan fixed or replaced.

Yep, nothing inside 100mm from screen edges.

I've run similar windscreen demisters in tarmac rally cars for many years and have never had a WOF issue.

yea thats what i thought. i went to the guy that does my wof's today, and he said that he would probly pass it. but suggested that i go up to vtnz, and see what they said. if anything, since the factory demister doesnt work, the ribbon one, would actually be improving my vision, not impairing it.

My thoughts too. Why would you not just fix it!
If it??

Guessing OP wants to keep as much 'weighty' junk out as possible - all the ducting and the fan unit etc can weigh a fair bit, depends how fussy you are I guess. At least a demister is just a series of fine copper strips, next to no weight

2 demister heater strips around the edge of the window & a simple heater & vent for the drivers side of the windscreen.

Plastic ducting & make the fan/ electric heater assembly removable with a couple of clips fitted.

1 of the early Suzuki 4x4's had an electric heater unit instead of a water heater/radiator system for inside the vehicle.

and to avoid all arguement sake with any avi, simply remove at time of wof then fit back on like the rest of NZ do with everything
