The Air Con in my Honda Accord has become very temperamental recently. It wasnt working when car first started, then coming on after the car had run for a while. We put new battery in at the weekend, but still having the same problem. In fact, it wouldnt go at all this evening when I was trying to demist windows. Can anyone give me some ideas that we can look into please!

You most likely have a small gas leak. Usually the system can be recharged (topped up). Best to see someone who does auto A/C, they'll be able to diagnose the fault.

Start with the basics and check the auxiliary belt that runs the A/C compressor. Could be an electrical problem or may even need to be re-gassed. Worth checking for leaks too. What year Accord!

Maybe check the fuse if the fan is not running .You don't need A/C for heat to demist the windows but the car engine needs to be worm

Thanks for the ideas.
She's a 1994 US wagon, been a great car, cost us nothing since the day we got it basically. (except the new battery at the weekend! lol)Still relatively low km's (130)

yeah, when I said 'air cond' I mean that whole panel is not working immediately. I dont really use the 'air con' except in the winter for heating sometimes. the button to 'demist' is in the panel and I just hit that normally

And there's your problem. You need to use it at least once a week. I never turn my one off.

They are a common failure the control panel power supplies stuff out. They can be fixed as they are like hens teeth to buy. But thats only a stab in the dark

Yes, Mr keeps telling me that. but I dont think about it, lol.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

If the gas pressure is low, the low pressure switch fitted to the system will not allow the compressor clutch to engage - therefore no cooling. Sounds like the pressure in yours is right on the limit for the switch so sometimes it allows it to work - sometimes it doesn't!

I use to have one of these cars and had to replace then control panel and that solved all the problems. This was a common problemwith these cars. I brought a new panel off a guy on here who fixes them and he can also fit them took about 1/2 an hour to fix.check out this listing 372777657 this was what I brought
