I know what you mean. But.
There'll be many eccentric types like him in the world, who are total self taught geniuses in some field.
He's probably a great and valued employee as a sparkie or whatever he does for the Telco he works for, and happy as Larry doing it for a living.
But with all his precision engineering brilliance, he'd possibly go mad and have a nervous breakdown, if he were thrown into a lab in some major Auto Company / Robotics manufacturer .etc, etc.

Lol, I knew it was going to be that guy before I even clicked the link. Rumour was he was going to sell it to make a GT40 but that was ages ago and I dunno if it happened. Based on the Fezza he's probably still working on it today.
Its pretty remarkable, one wonders if he had of devoted the same amount of time building it as to learning a new trade or investing the money whether he'd have enough for a real one.
