Autosure are the best. Many many upsides over their competition, the ONLY downside is the warranty is non-transferrable to a future owner.

Be wary of mechanical warranty's. They sound good at first glance but considering you have already bought the vehicle you are not going to get any subsidy on the cost of it.
Then you have to consider what is actually covered by the warranty and to what value it is covered. Once you subtract all the little things that are not worth claiming the excess on, look at whats left that could cause trouble and consider how much of a contribution the warranty company will make its often not that great.
Also, if you have bought the vehicle from a dealer you have some comeback/warranty under the consumer guarantees act anyway.
After that you have to consider that they will often dictate how, when and by whom your car is serviced which can in some cases add extra costs.
So. grab some prices and then perhaps head back here with a calculator and thrash out what the actual risk/benefits are. It may be worthwhile it may be not but they are not a sure thing.
