No need to muck around leasing if you have a supagas. I own my bottle, no lease, no contract, no hassle and its proper argoshield.

Yep totally agree! Owner bottles are the go now. No need for subscribe fees, contract, late return fee etc. BOC and Liquide Air will laugh at you if you take a converted Fire Ext in to them to fill as they wont fill it, even if it is current test date! ya'll have to get owner bottles and do the Supagas or National Gas thing

Are you a complete moron or just have zero idea about welders! You can not weld without gas unless you are using a gasless welder. To start with, the polarity of a gas vs. gasless MIG are different, the wire is different and unless the OP's welder can be converted to gas your suggestion is idiotic. A decent gasless MIG is able to weld just as strongly as a gas MIG, but technique plays a bigger part. There is definately an art to a good looking gasless weld.

Its probably worth your while looking at supagas as well. For around 2 1/2 years rental you can own a bottle with a 10 year cert thats cheaper to fill on a per litre basis.

Its great BOC etc have some decent competition now. Aside from the ridiculous regulations and extortionate pricing the snide and nasty attitude of the guy that served me last here in Tauranga made sure I never returned.
We just have to keep an eye on things though, as BOC have been known to try and buy their opposition out. I remember reading some commerce commission proposals relating to such a monopoly buy out some time ago. Luckily that particular buy out never went ahead.

actually thatis not quite right, most not all but most migs can have their polarity reversed very easily and the only other difference is the wire feed rollers, which can be changed in about 30 sec

he is one of 10 or more morons who are just here to have arguments. i just ignore em as icant be arsed to have aguments. op said his could not be converted so the only answer is a better welder for not much money and a co2 fire extinguisher to keep costs down. if one cant weld with co2 then it wont matter if they use argon or argon-shield . I just posted what i use and what i found to be a good cheap welderand my old welder wasa telwin or telmig complete peace of rubish compaired to this panther 132.

i agree about the arguing on threads, its childish and just ruins a legitimate question someone has with childish bickering. i trust what intrade says as hes posted in several of my threads about different things and has always offered solid info which is normally backed up by several regulars who post on here. basically if you dont know, dont post.
by the way intrade, ive started looking for a new welder gas/gasless. is there anything on trademe you have seen for around $800ish that is capable and decent enough for panel welding!

dont use solid wire without gas the imploding you mentioned is porosity, its weak as,personally i prefer argoshield, but if i was doing the paying it would be co2 at home

well i dont know the makes but a new panther is under 700$ for secoundhand ones you basically would want to try befor you hand over the money. and my old telwin was welding 3mm plates togather no problem asyours is also but i prefere my esab stick welder for heavy plate welding. I actuarly swapped that telwin welder and 300$ for my old hilux engine. was a good deal to me and the other guy probably welded heavy stuff and said he ws happy.

if you read it correctly i said if his could do gas he or she should do a test weld and no where did i mention to weld without gas, i said i forgot once to turn on the gas and how the weld looked like after it did hold also but its not ment to mean you can go and weld without gas hope thats now clear enough.

back to what matters. you want to get a co2 bottle go and see places that sell and service fire extinguisher. they usually convert some to co2 and even fill em as it is the same co2 as fire extinguisgers use. I use pureargon on my mig because of 1 only reason as my esab stick welder is also a tig-welder and you need argon for tigcant do that with co2. simply for that reson only i got me theargon bottle and filling will be done by supagas like all oxy -acetylen also they fill your DX boc bottles and even test em if out ofdate i think.

in post 2 that was the way i read it not trying to have a go but "i can even weld without gas but the weld implodes and not as strong"it does read that way aye,its also the way some others picked it up as well judging some of the comments
