I would run a 10W50 or 15W50 semi-synthetic oil, I would avoid running a thinner oil as the bearings in that motor aren't the best. The 6A12 is a good engine when stock and will respond to a mild boost increase, a free-flow exhaust and performance filter, but other than that I wouldn't push it a huge amount over 300hp as the rods are just about pencil-thin.

i had the vr4 model with that engine.only probs i had were the lifter tick when cold, and then again when hot lol.the clutch was fun to change(not without a hoist anyway) and the ignition module went in it.i ran a boost controler up to 14psi and that made a bit of difference.only reason i sold it was the amount of gas it chewed at 7psi.even when trying to nana it it still would come on boost.stuck to the road bloody well though

Yes the turbo's need a good oil as they can cost more than the engine to be replaced. And you don't get meny kms out of them before they start whislling
