I've never seen a legal aftermarket HID kit anyway. They won't be banning factory fitted ones, so many cars come with them and have for more than a decade.

HID is already illegal if it is retro fitted because the lens system is not suitable for the light pattern and it causes excess light leakage blinding oncoming traffic.
From what I know HID is still OK for driving lights, just not for dip lights.
Many premium vehicles are fitted with HID lights which come with proper lenses and self levellers from the factory, these are legal and they wont make them illegal because they are factory fit.

hid is illegal now if not used with the correct housings to get the correct beam spread
d2 adjustables are crap anyway and have seen a fair few fail and you can get better quality for the same money now like bc golds
i think you may have been misled

On that basis we should ban radios and amplifiers. They cause far more fires.

+1, they can't outlaw lighting equipment thats OEM!Adapting halogen lights to HID is illegal already and always has been.

yeah well storey has it that mates heard from mates so on. so i decided to find out for my self :) ALSO does anyone know if a 96spec type-r integra come factory with H.I.D's because i have one and just recently brought a H.I.D kit, hence previous owner must of dismantled it.

DC5 type r's could have HID as an option. depending on where they were sold. easiest way to tell is that most aftermarket HID lamps have 3 notches in the base whereas factory spec D2s D2r lamps have only 1 or 2 most aftermarket lamps are D2C which have 3 notches in the top of the base for different housing mountings. also just simply check the ballast boxes and see if they are honda or after market. It is illegal to fit HID lamps to standard Halogen housings.

The 96 spec DC2-R didn't but I think it was at least optional on the later 98 spec cars.

if your current headights have adaptors all over the place for the lamps then they are dodgy. the D2R/S/C lamp should go STRAIGHT into the housing with no adaptor rings and the wiring to the ballast should look factory. DC2R facelift lamps also had HID as an option

I put my lights in projector housings and fitted reflector dips that are halogen and have them certified. If it ever comes up on the warrant sheet I will scream cause I dunno what else I'm meant to do.

well if it comes up on a wof sheet it will only be because they dont focus properly, so what have you got to worry about!

Incorect some D2's are crap not all! its been proven time and time again thats its the lack of quality control in the D2 factorys that provide some amazing products and some shit products for the amount spent.

I think the question should be 'have you got any actual facts or info to back up you rumor/claim!' and not just to chuck something out there

Ever been to VTNZ! I'd worry if I was driving a new lambo with the retard NZ inspectors. Glad my uncle does mine but he is away so :/
