A hoist for a tailight bulb! What sort of design work is that!IMO it shouldn't take more than 60 seconds to do a bulb change.

Ive had to change a bulb almost yearly in the taillight of my Cruze. The ones that are built into the bumper. Your right that it would be easier with a hoist but would still be faster to do it laying on your back and make sure you have a short screwdriver handy as theres not much room to undo the screw for the lense.

You are correct in your 60 second story, but I too learnt something today.Went to change an H4 headlamp bulb for a customer, and bugger me, for some reason the new bulb finished up falling through the hole and is now sitting inside the headlamp. I would have fitted hundreds of these bulbs over the last 32 years and never has this happened before. Now its a headlamp out job which will go slightly over the sixty seconds! Bugger!

So you've not attempted to change one on a modern VW Beetle then! It's easier to take the rear wheel off.

Try a brake light bulb on a vr commodore ute with a tuffdeck. You have to remove the whole tuffdeck to get at it!

Even with my apprentice pulling back on the tuffdeck and me pushing my hand in, we still couldnt get it! Ended up calling the customer and telling him about the problem. We pulled the deck out, cut holes for the lights for future access, cleaned the grot off the deck and tidied up some rust for him. All good in the end, but easily the most expensive brake light bulb I've ever done.
