Max lift 1M,. may as well use a jackand there is nothing taking up floor space to trip over

Check what other options there are and installation costs etc

I would use a car lifter over a jack.

most of the scissor lifts go to about waist height. i prefer the ones with tracks to roll on rather than wheels. they arent overly flimsy tho provided its a decently constructed hoist. may pay to check some out or find someone who has one to inspect

Not sure if they do a scissor lift but I am really impressed with the SULCO cheap hoists. Also, if you can't fit one you can't fit one but given the choice I would much rather a two post even if it is just for oil changes.
So much nicer being able to stand up properly while dealing with oil filters etc.

Eat less donuts and cream cakes and you will still be able to get up and down yourself . Use a jack and stands , will keep you fitter !

Speaking of which, I recently upgraded my Jack and Stands. I have to say 6 Tonne axle stands are so much better than 3 Tonne. Nothing to do with the weight they can hold, its the stability and height, especially if you are working on a less than ideal surface.

Got mine from save barn for about $50 a pair and I am pretty sure they are the same as BNT was selling for quite a lot more. Likewise my big "proper" jack would have to be my favourite workshop tool.

Ring whoever the main hoist servicing / repair guys are in your locale - Canty Hoist Services always have used hoists at great prices from my experience, I wouldnt trust my life with anything other than Rav's now after all these shakes they have stood the test of time very well - the only workshops that lost cars had chinese hoists as far as Ive heard
George Stock & Co are the Rav agent & usually replace dealership hoists every 5 years, mine are around 8 years old & in perfect condition - could be worth a call

Do you know how much a used hoist is worth!

xs1100, Apr 17, 8:40pm
also get in touch with the equipment guys at repco they actually do quite a few hoists so could either do a new or possibily a good 2nd hand one

for that sort of money i'd look at a 2 or 4 post hoist cause its only a matter of time b4 you will wanna do something more than change tyres or oil.maybe gearbox or diff.the resale on a post hoist would probably be better to.imo

Check this out from Stocks368019136They have a number of these available and they are a real good hoist. I brought my RAV else where off Trade Me and paid more than this for it. Once you have had a hoist you will never go back to not having one. A well maintained Italian hoist would be my choice over a junk asian one any day. Watch out for how the hoist is load rated. A RAV will be CE (European Community) rated which determines a certain amount of flex in the arms at full extention with that load applied. On some of the asian hoists, the rating is the actual failure point. Something to think about!

That hoist looks like crap Kaz
