here are soem more facts. write off only means the insurance has written the car off due to the damage slight ding costing more then the car is worth for example. also insurance will deregister your car when it is a writeoff and then it will be flooged at turnersdamaged auction deregisterd.
You would have to be hard on the ball to make sure the insurance wont derego your car and that you can keep it if you want it fixed your self.
you be amazed how cheap you can fix some written offcars solong as it has not got intensive structural damage. a car can look like it was in the crusher solong as its structer is undamaged and will pass a wof. cops myght stop you more often then you like however.

oncea car is deregistered then it will not be cheap to reregister. it be flageddamaged likely on the system and gone over with a toothbrush when you try and re-register it for about a grand just in administration costs plates etc.

few 100$ and this would have passed a wof again you would need a spanner set a hammer and a new wheel and 4h time to bash it so the parts would fit again closer to the car it wont likely be structural damaged, but it is deregod so its now scrap metal only. be a insurance write off as panel shops would quote for all damage and a bill of 4grand would have been supplyed with painting and all.

In this case, the Insurance have washed their hands, so there's no write-off, just a pranged car.
Now people like me love buying cars like that for the reasons that intrade mentions in #30
