Was in a near miss case of 'tie your load' down

yesterday morning, had to go to a hospital appointment in town, got stuck in a traffic jam going up a long steep hill with a little delivery truck infront of us, guy kept doing these really bad hill starts with us thinking he was going to slip back and hit us.BUT no it was worse.we saw a bump in the roller door in the back of the truck, every time he did a hill start the bumps in the door got larger and bigger until we could see a fully loaded pallet size indent in the door.we had no where to go, traffic on right side & cars parked on left.the the silly bugger did one more and the roller door started slipping out of the side tracks infront of our eyes.i thought we were gonnas.finally after some yelling he got out and we pointed to the back of the truck.then he used what little brain he had and waited till the traffic infront of him got to the top of the hill so he carefully took of and got over the hill.

Nasty. :(Good on you for sorting it out, and good on him for doing the right thing.

Nice that it worked out ok for all, but why were you so close if you were concerened about the pallet coming out!

A little while ago I had to do a huge high speed swerve in our campervan to avoid a 6 foot crowbar which popped off the back of a light truck.Coulda bloody killed us. To this day I have no idea how we missed it and how the van didn't roll. Couldn't catch the truck to offer the muppet some "advice". Crikey.

I dunno if it's just cause I'm tired or what, but wouldn't 'near miss' mean you actually got hit, but was nearly missed!

these days there are huge fines for unsafe loads.or loads not tied down properly or covered. if any thing flies out of a truck or trailer thats a serious fine

Abbreviation for "Nearly hit us but missed"

Might be a slight difference between Auckland and Nelson traffic i'm guessing. :)
