I think you need to tell us what system you are useing. There are addtives for auto paint to make suitable for raw plastics etc. Tell us more. But to answer, Yes.

If the bumper's already painted there's no problem, just prepare it as normal with a few considerations regarding a softer substrate and not sanding it too viciously with coarse paper. If it's bare plastic then the rules are different.

And if it's a "NEW" raw plastic bit then the rules are very different again LOL.

i just bought 2nd hand part today off a wrecker. the panels are maroon red. so they arnt raw plastic. im going to get my brothers mate to do it with air gun.

In that case just prep and paint them with the same material as any other repair. If it's a light colour it might pay to prime them first to make for easier coverage over the burgundy colour.

color at the moment is maroon red. i will be painting them to suit the rest of the car (obviously) which is dark grey.

Should be OK as long as the paint on the panels/bumpers is in good nick, is this guy a painter or enthusiastic amateur!

There is an additive to make the paint flexible for when the bumpers bent in and springs back out - to avoid cracking. Otherwise - just carry on.

Been a long time since I bothered with that stuff, it was more for the old rubberised bumpers than plastic. Paint will bend enough for the more rigid bumpers of today, plasticisers cause paint to surface crack after a while.

I should have meant - there WAS an additive. Hadn't heard much mention of it lately. Just thought the painters were getting slack.
