How long is too long to wait for CofO ?

Won a car auction, test drove it, paid the guy (I have a witness), filled out a change of ownership form (buyer form) and took the car home with me.
This was Thursday night. I have since done a buyers form online @ nzta website, cost me $10, and am now waiting for him to do his part. How long should I have to wait ! Am I jumping the gun too soon !

You have done your part, ie. changed the ownership in your name. Nothing else matters.

Fret not, you have done all that is necessary, as far as NZTA is concerned it will be you that gets all the speeding camera notices etc as it is now you who is the registered owner, the seller need do nothing.

Really doesn't matter what the seller does or doesn't do, as far as NZTA is concerned you've taken responsibility for it now.

I think the only reason they bother with seller forms is incase the buyer doesn't do their end then NZTA can send a warning to the seller etc.

no. the seller only has to do his part if he wants to (for his piece of mind).
you've done your part and thats all that needs to be done.
you now own the car.

The sellers part is posted in the mail, so wont be processed until it gets through the post, sits on someones desk for a few days, gets looked at by someone who doesnt give a rats botty, then left on a desk some more, then actually processed by someone who has not been at the job long enough to have lost the will to live, then entered into the system where it will be available to be viewed by you. Shouldnt be more than two or three weeks.
