so how does the scam work

Hey everyone, unfortunately this isn't an April Fool's joke. The scammer pretends to buy your item by faking a payment to your Pay Pal account. They then ask you to pay them a shipping, security or insurance fee through Western Union. Steer clear of anything to do with Western Union or overseas buyers and don't include your contact details in the text of your listings (this can be seen by anyone, not just Trade Me members). If you receive any suspicious contact please send it through to [email protected]

I've actually had legitimate dealings with overseas before but they don't speak retardinese and ask to pay stuff back to them.

Last scam artist I strung along making them fill out fake forms till they finally realised I was pulling their chain.

That is the way pollymay!Remember the film starring Jim Carrey "Yes Man" I think. It was based on a British book by Danny Wallace and the book is better than the film by a country mile (even though I like Jim Carrey).

He dealt with the Nigerian scammers by stringing them along for months -even to trying to arrange a meeting in Holland I think, to hand over a cheque!
