does any one know the technique to sharpen the reel. have got some over the top prices . hamilton or aucks .may even have a machine lined up talked to a guy who had one ,has never used it

don't you just adjust the bottom plate so it just touches the blades!

yeah but i think the idea is to have all blade same so they all cut together

there is an art to sharpening them , if you can be bothered talk to key equipment in Rotoruathe owner Nick has a machine now out at his house remove the reel and send it to him they use to charge $60 . to set the right clearance between the plate and the blade you get a sheet of a4 paper and adjust till it cuts it like scissorsyou can bugger the blade if it is to closethe whole blade should cut the paper nicelyall the way along check this first if it doesn't or just cuts the paper in placesyou need a grind. looked after ableeding lawn tennis courtfor a few years the mower had to be perfect to cut the grass otherwise they just bend it over and damage it
check each blade with the paper after adjusting the first one
