Car had only done 16000 miles when i bought it for 34k usd off of Ebay . Flights to Nashville to collect the car , 2 weeks driving 2500 miles to California via lots of cool places , 3 days at Pomona drags , flights home , shipping costs , GST & MAF fees , LHD permit fees , compliance & rego , all came to the princely sum of about 70k nzd . A bargain in my humble opinion for a seriously fun car with gobs of performance and surprising economy . The kicker was the valuation for insurance of 100k nzd . Im a happy man ;-)
Could obviously be done for even less if you were to import it without taking the trip stateside . Why would ya spend ya hard earned $$$ on an XR8 or SS when for the same money you could be rolling in a Viper !

Did you settle with seller before sighting! What year is it! How did you get on for insurance while driving in the States! Mate has recently brought in an 06 Vette ZO6 (which an agent bought for him) and looks like it was similar sums to your, i.e. $US price double it and be close in NZ Dollars, say $US1,000 would be $NZ2,000 on the road here. But he didn't have airfares etc but did have agents fees, I think 5% of US purchase price & well worth it. 8,000m and car is like brand new.

Car is 1996 model year , first year of the GTS coupe ( argueably the most collectible )Insurance was done online with Progressive.com for both drivers before car was paid for . Got stopped by an Oklahoma state trooper & all paperwork was in order .
