holy crap! Never thought I would see a Citroen crack even half a million kms. Have asked them what work needs doing for a WOF, will be interesting.

gs1220, Mar 24, 7:54pm
The vendor doesn't actually say its going strong does he! Still, well on the way to a million Ks with an automatic gearbox. Way to go Citroen!

morrisman1, Mar 24, 8:06pm
haha, looking at the carjam report it looks like some WOF people didnt believe the milage!

franc123, Mar 24, 8:20pm
I wouldn't go slamming the doors too hard, the entire vehicle might disintegrate.

morrisman1, Mar 24, 8:57pm
we all know that french cars are held together with spit!

Having owned one I definitely know that.

It is common knowledge that the Citroen/Peugeot diesels are capable of racking up HUGE miles, except in little NZ with the head up the arse mentality that anything not from japan is a time bomb money pit.

I just assumed when someone says "high kms but lots of hot running." that it's still running OK, engine wise. Whatever the case I'm impressed with the mileage & price. Could make a good little runabout for a student or someone.

jezz43, Mar 25, 5:11am
most japanese diesels can probably do the same kind of mileage if not more, would probably help if they didnt sit in traffic at idle for over half their lives tho

Agreed,
My 88 - 2.4 Turbo Surf is sitting at about 300.000km's now & as far as I know, never been touched & still going strong.
Even getting a little bit cheaper to run with VERY minor air supply mods.

That is some impressive mileage for this country.I'd love to know how many gearboxes its had though - I've driven a ~400,000km 405 and that was getting really dicey.

Best I've personally seen was a new shape Hiace being used as a Bangkok city to airport shuttle.Over 600,000kms and couldn't have been more than a couple of years old at the time - how they run them is unreal, drivers work in shifts so the van is almost always running.

i had an 84 mitsi L300 starwagon a few years back, was 1600cc petrol and had 585000 kms on the clock. never been rebuilt, only work i had to do was service it and rebuild the carby as it had a airleak and lost all its balls (well, what balls it had). was probably the most fun van i ever owned. good to drive in the dry, but no traction from the rear wheels whatsoever in the wet

LOL, I actually know that car. Luxury used to be my customers back when I was running the biz.
They have many high km Merc vans etc. Thanks for the link!

phillip.weston, Mar 25, 11:07am
they replied back saying it has rust on the firewall, and that simply it hasn't been used 'in a while'.
