anyone used and other kind of sander when doing work on auto paint. Ive used Rupes and Festool brands only and just wondering what else is out there suitable for final sanding clears etc. I know there are air one but electric ones are what im curious about.Im just wondering if we pay a premium for these brands although they are very good items.

Still a place for that for sure but for run of the mill stuff you cant go past them, saves hours of hard slog lol. And if you know how to use them correctly theres no problems.

Have used Makita but only 25% as good as Rupes.

Wish our painters could do that.

What problems are you seeing as a result of them useing them!

The festo and the rupes are no doubt the best, and really the only machines worth using if you are a pro. For the lower volume user Metabo makes a tidy unit, but value for money the AEG is probably hard to beat. An electric 150mm sander with twin orbits for under $300.

When doing a resto job I allways block finished the primer with 320 dry then go over with 320 hookit on the rupes and never had any rippling. It cut the dry sanding with 600 heaps.
