I put a new water pump on my 351c new thermostat, got it running for a while upto operating temp seem ok. have had the engine running about half a dozen times sorting out idle etc and a crusie down the road. dont have a temp guage wired at this point now its leaking out the weep hole only when the engine is turned off, is the seal gone in the waterpump! Its a GMB brand pump cheers

It may not be a crook seal, there may be another undrlying problem forcing the water out. That is, possibly a blown head gasket allowing combustion chamber pressureinto the water jacket. The water will come out where ever it can. Do a cylinder leakage test and see if bubbles appear in radiator.

if it is coming out the hole in the waterpump, the seal is stuffed. There may be another problem, like a blown headgasket, but the seal is still stuffed, its not doing its job, keeping water on one side of the seal. a good cause of this is people lifting the motor by the waterpump, ie, manhandling it around. I'm guessing you put the new pump on in the car so this shouldn't be a factor.

H,as it got an over-flow bottle, when you shut the engine off the water will get a bit hotter due to not circulating so may need a slightly lower pressure cap to relieve the pressure into the bottle( if you know what I mean), this will then be sucked back as it cools.Or the w/pump seal is stuffed.
