I reckon it's an old Ford NZ workers union membership badge.M - 129.member 129

It would have been an employee badge, most likely from one of the Ford assembly plants. Back in the days of wages being paid in cash for example that badge would have been the ticket to getting your wages amongst other uses. I have no idea what plant although I would imagine it would be reasonably easy to figure.

The badge looks like the old Dagenham , they burnt Londons rubbish in there boilers and generated there own power and sold it back to the city of London

Theres heaps of these for sale on e bay. They wereid given to all the workers. first letter appears to be department you workedat followed by yournumber
I very much doubt if it's Dagenham, seeing as it has N.Z. on it. Unless some bugger moved Dagenham while I wasn't looking.

pretty cool no matter what it is, wouldnt mind it on the dash of the delivery or a mirror dangler

OK, did a little research. It is definitely an employee badge issued to employees working in the plant - which plant is something I have not been able to figure. It could be Petone (known as the Lower Hutt plant) or possibly even Manukau. Given that assembly ceased in '97 and this obviously predates that by some margin I'd say it would be worth hanging on to.

$6.50 in the Warehouse with a wide band of leather on it. What'd you do with the leather!
