Forecourt 'concierge'

a.woodrow, Feb 1, 10:59pm
Hmm after happily shelling out $650 for my wof, took to petrol station to fill up and the damn ford wouldn't start after filling! some sort of electrical/security issue I suspect. Z stations 'concierge' came up THEM: "car won't start!" ME: "no." THEM: "try putting your foot on the brake" ME: "that's not the problem". Then they walked off and left me to it. I ended up pushing the car off the forecourt myself to get it out of the way, they were happy to watch but didn't even offer to call aa or anything. Now thats what I call great service lol

yep.Z is all marketing bollox.trying to capture some kind of kiwi-parochialism.its tired.we just don't give a crap who owns our gas stations sorry.or who owns anything else.

(at least i don't give a crap anyway).

Good service is good service.whoever owns the company.most of us have mortgages with aussie banks for example.we don't care!

All this "kiwi owned" garbage has had its day.we live in a big wide world!

If you want to experience great service, try a trip to the states.they'll show us how its done."proudly NZ owned"!blah!

(here endeth the lesson)

Probably makes a mean coffee though.

unbeatabull, Feb 1, 11:05pm
To be honest . did you ask them for help!

They offered you help with trying to start it, and you pretty much turned them away. I can't say how the conversation was toned through text but if it was me I would of probably left you there as well.

IF no one cares (and I disagree), it would because people like you go around spouting of that kind of dribble, and fools listen. Negativity breeds negativity. Try leading.

cantab1971, Feb 1, 11:16pm
i am leading.the world is bigger than enzed.we need to get over ourselves. I hate all this "kiwi owned" crap.maybe we should lock out all overseas investment.good luck with that. just compete on being better.not expect some kind of loyalty because you're kiwi owned.sorry, you have to do better than that.

Amen to that. Kiwi's wouldn't know customer service if it spat at them in the face. I used to work at a liquor shop and I would always make sure the customer was acknowledged and helped out. Every single one of them. We had higher prices than most other shops, but we had a thousand customers coming in saying they ALWAYS came back because we were so friendly and helpful. I helped people with failed cars so many times at that job, and they were usually speechless afterwards. If you even gave half-a-try at customer service here you'd blow all the other customer service related businesses in your area away.

a.woodrow, Feb 1, 11:39pm
Nah I didn't ask. I knew there wasn't anything they could do, it was obviously more than a flat battery. I wasn't rude at all, they just wandered off, not interested :) Would have thought they would offer to help push though as I was blocking the pumps. Point being I guess is that they put themselves out there as having a great service for customers, but reality is, there is still no service at the service station

cantab1971, Feb 1, 11:44pm
and amen to you sir.Its you that I would also keep coming back to.and the ironic thing is.the tossers that give crap service and just "expect" custom - they never know about the customers that don't come back. You dont know what you don't know!

a.woodrow, Feb 1, 11:46pm
Yeah mate, 8 months even just over the ditch was enough to see what customer service can be like. They actually put effort into selling you something over there.
Not long after my wife and I came back, we were at a cafe in Winton for lunck. I asked for a chocolate smoothie - we don't do those here. ok what about an iced chocolate! no we don't to those here. after a moment of silence I asked what did they do in chocolate and the answer was just chocolate milkshakes. ok I'll have one of those. this would never happen in oz, they would be falling over themselves to offer an alternative

I've always had the complete opposite experience over there, it seems like most aussies don't have 'customer service' in their dictionary

kazbanz, Feb 1, 11:51pm
If you REALLY want to experience customer servicetry Japan.
Wash your windscreen, pump your gas etc etc -all with a smile

a.woodrow, Feb 1, 11:53pm
lol. maybe it's just I'm so used to the rubbish service here that even slightly less rubbish service is a breath of fresh air.

zephyrheaven, Feb 2, 12:47am
I got so sick of bad service everywhere I went, I ended up running my own business the way I want to be treated.
Maybe why Im so busy these days.

socram, Feb 2, 3:21am
We have always found that in cafes and restaurants at least, Aussies tend to be professional and work as though it is a career in itself. Here, it appears to be a 'part-time job' for pin money and merely as a stepping stone to a 'real job'.

Let me guess ,englishhis second language !

pup2, Feb 2, 7:11pm
LMAO - i was in a cafe in Winton this morning getting the misses something for smoko and I had to wait. After a VERY long wait, I went up and asked why it's taking so long. Seams that forgot the order. No apologies. They weren't even busy.

a.woodrow, Feb 2, 7:16pm
Was it the bakery!

moosie_21, Feb 2, 11:15pm
And there you go! Good on you mate, this country needs a kick up the backside when it comes to customer service. I always make sure I go back to people who treat you the way you would treat them and actually make an effort. When oh when will NZ get that through it's brain!

pup2, Feb 3, 12:21am
Sure was

mugenb20b, Feb 3, 12:32am

I think we must follow Europe for our customer service ideas, they are crap too, try a trip to Singapore; unreal service, friendly, very helpful people everywhere.
