Is it worth the effort! Those cars can be picked up in great order for next to nothing and while they are nice to drive and well featured they have some right pain in the bum to fix silly faults now and then. Might be much more economical to sell it as is and start again. My 2C.
As an example, I bought a top spec 1998 model, in supurb condition with low km's for $1000 a while back, it required a vacuum hose to be repaired and an exhaust stud to be replaced.

thanks i fix cars 4 a job and could have two cheap as two make one.
