Mer crusier model help

got a boat here, belive it is a 197! with a gm inline 4 cyliner. how can i tell the models a part! it has a alpha 1 leg on it. i have been told it is a 2.9L built from a voxell victor motor to marine spec. it is the original engine in it. it has got on the dash amp, oil pressure, trim gauges. has a number on the block 14097080136. transom plate number 5259096. any help greatly appreciated

How about a picture!
I think you might find it is not a Vauxhall but 1/2 a Chev (!) V8 block or something like that.
Google is your friend.

It's a 3.0L block from Chevrolet made only for Mercruiser and sold only with Mercury legs and a Mercury heat exchanger. I'd guess it's be pretty near indestructable providing you keep the oil and cooling water up to it.

i didn't find this site when i was googling, i think i have narrowed it down to a 140 model as it has 181 cast into the block, thanks

it still running mint (when it starts), i want to get it hot the do oil and filter on it again. it's uses a bit of gas tho, used about 130L in 10 hours over 2 days.

I'll put up a pic of it when i get home

It was not made "only" for mercruiser. It is a very common industial engine tthat is also used as a stationary engine and is alsofitted to many Hyster forklifts
