Sitting on the bumpstops for WOF

nick91111, Feb 7, 4:38pm
1995 A32 Nissan Cefiro. Just put all new monroe gt shocks in all around, the rear are now captive without shortening (which was my original problem.) Now with the shocks, the front springs are compressing the bumpstops and has no travel. I put aftermarked bumpstop kit in, and are already a lot shorter than factory stops. Should it get a warrant, or do I need to raise the front a bit! Cheers.

No and yes.

male_timaru, Feb 7, 4:48pm
New Springs would have been a good combo there - lol

I'm guessing it rode around for a long time on short shocks and original springs or did someone cut them and let bodyweight of car slump springs!

And as above - illegal so NO and yes need to raise vehicle again

mrfxit, Feb 7, 5:53pm
Yes to the wof if you get it recerted as a commercial road roller / heavy tractor /road legal go kart (fixed axle vehicle)

rob_man, Feb 7, 6:08pm
What's the speed limit for such vehicles! 15kmh !

mrfxit, Feb 7, 6:28pm
Depends a lot on the gross weight/ size of tyres etc etc.
Large tractors can tow 2 trailers up to 50kph
something the size of a car would about 20kph I think (probably the same as a forklift)

nick91111, Feb 7, 6:38pm
No, it has brand new Dobi super low springs, and brand new struts all around, with brand new short bump stop kit. I would never cut springs!

kazbanz, Feb 7, 7:12pm
nick--look turn it any way you like--the answer is NO the car wont pass a WOF riding on the stops.

rocky0169, Feb 7, 7:28pm
stupid question.

mecanix, Feb 7, 7:49pm
i can think of one place in new lynn that would pass it easily.

elect70, Feb 7, 7:53pm
me thinks been sold wrongsprings /dampers .

nick91111, Feb 7, 7:58pm
Yeah I know King's didn't sell a set of superlow's for it, only low's. So I found some Dobi's that cross-referenced for super low. Only now I think there are reasons

nick91111, Feb 7, 7:59pm
Bit far away for me! Dunedin would be more appropriate

nick91111, Feb 7, 8:00pm
If you haven't got anything nice to say, then don't say anything. It is just an honest question for someone who does not now the answer.

outbidyou2, Feb 7, 10:04pm
Isnt adjustable suspension the way to go if you want to scrape everywhere! I had superlow springs in my Subaru with standard shocks, annoying as hell, you should see my front bumper. Always passed wofs though, get your ride height up a bit, will still be plenty low enough altho more $$ though

foxdonut, Feb 7, 10:35pm
Why lower it so far! What's the point!

johnf_456, Feb 7, 11:02pm
its cool when everyone stares at you as your car scrapes and damages

wellyguynz, Feb 7, 11:38pm
Lol at lowering a Cefiro

nick91111, Feb 8, 12:28am
Lol yeah. Very rare for something like a cefiro to be lowered.

nick91111, Feb 8, 12:29am
It had 17"s on stuffed factory suspension, handled awful and sat higher than stock

rocky0169, Feb 8, 12:33am
. rich coming frm the boards then. what do you think then! on the bump stop,s no lucky the car was even stopping.

foxdonut, Feb 8, 1:12am
So, instead of a cheaper factory wheel all round you did the extra logical thing and intentionally use the wrong spring kit!

bill-robinson, Feb 8, 1:18am
just tell them it's a big mini with rubber supension
