1000km round trip today

In my VZ Commonwhore ute. Fuel average 9.2ltrs per 100kms, half of that done with a very un-areodynamic load on the back.
Two of us split the driving and both ended up fresh, comfortable and willing to do more.
Gotta love modern vehicles

Cool sounds like fun.

Was actually. Just made steady time sitting on 100kph, only had two cars pass us all the way (one of which was talking to Mr Policeman a bit further up the road). Wasn't too impressed by the bloody awful sealing job on the Taupo bypass, will have to give the Ute suspension a good clean out tomorrow.

I would love to drive a truck over that distance, even have my truck and trailer licence but with young children to care for at the moment I look forward to doing that sometime in the future. When I drove from Christchurch to Auckland I took my 8 and 10 year old and we came back in a relocation campervan. They loved it and so do I.
