Help with little motocross bike from the warehouse

hi guys wonder if there's anyone that can help with advice please , i bought my so one of those wee mx bikes from the warehouse its pretty good for a learner but i have a problem , the manual that came with it has gone missing ,and when i try start it by pulling the cord ,it takes so long to start and then it smokes really bad ,so bad in fact u cant stand near it , umm i think i have the fuel and oil mixture wrong ! does that sound right ! and does anybody know what ratio i should use please.its no fun for him because i cant get it going easily and the smoke .please any one help !

ok ---to start with --if its "hard to start" then likely you are almost flooding it with two stroke oil. Are you using the choke correctly! if notthis will cause it to smoke a lot for a few minutes on startup. Normally you run a 30 to 1 oil/fuel mixture ratio
BUT you need to have run at least 3 tanks of fuel through it before its run in.
I've run a LOT of little two strokes in and almost always they smoke a fair bit when first started

thank you so much kazbanz, the choke didnt have an arrow for on or off so i look the aircleaner thingy off and figured out up was on , it smokes even if i run it for ages choke off of course , i think it is my oil mixture ,should i add more petrol to the tank or start fresh with 30 to 1 mix ,again thanks very much, plus it simply wont idle .

Try a few pulls with the choke on, then a few with the choke off, then a few at full throttle.

Ther are alot of guys on here with the same problem form overdoing the pull start.Good on ya for trying to sort it yourself and for getting your kid into bikes.

bike from warhouse i did think they where soldalmost 10 years ago and all recalled again by the warhouse2 weeks after thes started selling them back then!

i bought it just before xmas ,great looking bike and the quality looks kinda ok and its probably run for about half a tank , never idled and smokes heaps, the guy at the gas station saw the bike and mixed me 5 litres of gas :<

he is probably more used to making flat whites than mixing gas.

Got one of those for my daughter i can start it but misses cant so showed her pull sparkplug put 2 or3 mls gas in replace plug in pull. In yup mine smoked abit for a while .gas is 30-1 or 30 mls per litre gas

kerrieann-Ive got kids trail bikes for africa here and the bits and bobs to sort out the oil etc. I'd be happy to take a look at your bike for ya.
