Smoke coming from vents

Hey guys, I have a 2002 Honda Torneo, yesterday there was black smoke coming from the air vents in the interior when going up the Kaimais. I pulled over and popped the bonnet but couldn't see or smell anything unusual, all oils, fluids and temp were normal but I let the engine cool for about 20 mins before taking off again, didn't happen again after that. If it helps service was done about 3 weeks earlier and cambelt, balance belt, drive belt and a few other bits was also replaced.

When the vent system is set to recycle the air is drawn from the interior often the footwell, when set to fresh the air comes from a grill at leading edge of bonnet or somesuch area, not from the engine bay (that would never be fresh :-). My guess if the fan is woking in the heater (not engine) does it go from recycle to fresh etc, it has to be something in the heater vent system that has fried, check fuses for blown item to help diagnosis. Think about how it all works and go backwards.

also check the fan on all the speeds, maybe you fried the reostat

Just checked all the controls on the HVAC system seem to be working.fan speeds, recycle air, fresh etc. Are the fuses for the system in the interior!Theres a set below the glovebox and one set of fuseson the side of the dashboard on the drivers side if that makes sense.

Many fan speed control resistors are in the heater duct, perhaps one let go or a hunk of dust or a leaf got in the duct and sat on a resister and cooked.
