noswalg, Feb 29, 7:28am
these all are reincarnations of the BOSOZUKO motorbike gangs, can't see the appeal of it myself, but each to there own. Gotta admire the creativity of some of these guys

Had an HR some years ago, had a small rust hole just behind the front wheel arch. failed a wof, reckoned it could injure a pedestrian! He'd have a shit fit if he saw one of these come in! Ha ha ha

Some kids here in NZ seem intent on leg-humping the American "Hella Flush" scene, and some of them are bringing some weak Bosozoku influences into it (long-ish tailpipes, dildo gear knobs, external oil coolers etc.)

Basically, they ape whatever they see on U.S. import scene blogs without question. That seems to be about the limit of how seriously this fad has taken hold in NZ.

Myself, I think the fervor that the fans bring to it is quite cute. They're ALMOST as defensive as V8/hotrod boys.

(Some of the devotees may be along in a minute to say I'm wrong and it's not a fad, and it's been around for a long time, and it's the biggest car scene out there if you provide enough caveats on that. but really, it's just a boy racer fad, the latest in a long line of them. )

it's called a trend and people can appreciate or not appreciate any trend they like. I personally myself like the 'hellaflush' stance but perhaps not to the extreme some go to.

I would prefer the hellaflush or boso trend over the typical NZ boy racer camo paint job or interior, modgies with eagers, repco checker plate floor mats, huge monster tach on dash, fart cannon exhaust etc etc.

gunhand, Feb 29, 7:31pm
All you need is a movie called, fast and furious bosozoku drift part 7 and she'll be all on.

Creativity! someone made their exhaust pipes stick out& the public looked, so his mates did the same just made them longer or different angle, one guy extended the spoiler so his mates did the same. I dont see creativity.
Like the dropkicks over here but less exaggerated with the black bonnet theme or the $1000 Mag Warehouse shiney alloys on a $200 car. no creativity, just a 'stand out & be different but look like the other guy' fad

fiatracer, Mar 1, 6:01am
are we talking about the hot rod scene again!

specialk11, Mar 1, 6:09am
WOW, I could see the mass population of souf auckland driving those cars

smac, Mar 1, 6:21am
I personally had no idea what the hell hellaflush meant, so looked it up.

Came acros an interesting point of view: if you knock what is essentially a visual expression or point of difference (yes they look like each other but they certainly look different from those they are trying to distance themselves from) then you need to take a good look at yourself. How cars are painted, they don't need to be. We were individual cothes, but it would be cheaper not to. Our houses are different, again, cheaper if they all looked the same etc etc.

So often people incorrectly confuse "I don't like" with "it's wrong".

And yes, as mentioned above, this is no different than the beloved hotrod scene of the 50's.it's just personal taste.

Hot rods were decades before and would bury these outright in performance terms (.am I wrong!).

It's perfume on a pig - despite your preachin'.
