We have an old A & T Burt centrifugal fan (33 slp) at work which we use for blowing air through grain. At the moment it is PTO driven off a tractor so horsepower isn't a problem but we would like to know what horsepower would be needed to drive it as we have a Lister diesel motor sitting round doing nothing we would like to mount to it. I know it is an old fan but maybe someone knows something about them.

Need to know what the CFM is ( cubic feet per minute )@what speed , for exactHP.lister probably a bit too slow & underpoweredif its a single cylinder. my guess is needabout 5 Hp&800 - 1000RPM on the fan

Thanks for the reply, I was wrong about the motor it is actually a 2 cylinder Lombardini rated at 28hp so we shouldn't have a problem hopefully. It is governed to 1700rpm at the moment and with the pulleys we have should have the fan spinning at 755rpm. We also found a painted over nameplate on the fan today saying max revs of 900 so you're right on the money.

maybe working out how much fuel you tractor uses per hour, you may be able to work it out this way.
