i heard last night that this weekends NZDRA Nationals will be the last for NZDRA ever. apparently MSNZ has shut them down from being the Governing Body of Drag Racing in NZ. not really surprised when they've continually done things to disrupt the new independant IHRA body that came in this season, e.g. running their meetings on the same date as Meremere dragstrip to pull #'s from attendees. looks like next season they'll be all under one umbrella again. that should boost the sport.

Isn't it a shame in a country the size of ours that groups like this split into two factions. Its usually because people high up in the group have different ideas on how things should be run and cannot agree on things. This then splits the group, forgetting its about the sport not about them and their personalities. New Zealand is not big enough for this sort of crappola to happen and the damage/hurt done over meetings takes a long time to fix/heal.I hope it is sorted regards drag racing and back under one roof with an administration that has drag racing at heart as I'm sure 99% do.

Im confused about what to do here. I own a Commodore that is now built for the drag strip. What club or organisation can i join with the same or similar interest ! What i mean is,i used to have a circiut type car and belonged to the local car club. What is equivelent in the drag race world ! It seems to me that the local boys round here belong to the various Hot Rod clubs, but a Commie is hardly a hotrod is it ! Thanks guys.

I have no interest or involvement in the drags, but you don't need to look any further than rugby to see that the so called top echelons of most sports have their issues. MSNZ has its own detractors, hence the current (legal) spat between them and Super Tourers. It's a very raresport that runs smoothly. Summed up usually as a combination of egos, money, and self interested committee driven decision making, rather than forward looking leadership that is prepared to stand by principles for the long term benefit of the sport, that are commercially viable and fiscally responsible.

Happens in other sports as well, talking to a guy last week about Baseball having 2 different bodies to follow.

you would think these corp bodies would see past their own importance and get on with the job or just leave it to those that will. History surely dictates that Enzed is too small for all this rubbish and bums on seats is where its at totally.no bums, no prize money

sounds more like the new guys have more mates in the MSNZ than the established nzdra
