Check the condition of your trailer plug and associated wiring in the boot area if the vehicle has or has had a tow bar

never had a tow bar by the looks of it. i looked in the boot at the wiring all looks normal to me but i dont know how to get the door panel off or where the wiring goes lol

basic steps are remove all indicator bulbs, fit new fuse, try indicators, if it blows the fuse, take the vehicle to an auto sparky, if it doesn't blow the fuses turn the hazards on and fit one bulb at a time, check each bulb before fitting for sagged filaments etc, or discoloured glass ( such will likely indicate the errant bulb) easier if you fit the two on one side of the vehicle, the bulbs will glow continuous until there are at least 2 bulbs in the system,, if you find one that pops the fuse, replace it, you may actually get all working without issue, the action of removing and later replacing the bulbs often clears a minor short from rust or wet dust

i pulled the tail lights out and the filament in the indicator bulb looks screwy. thank you skin1235 ill give it a go.

probably a wire chaved thru and when the bulb was changed light had to be removed is my guess so the wire now makes contact with the car body and pops the fuse. thats my guess of what could have happened. would mean the car probably had a accident at some stage also on where the wire is worn out. unless it is a mercedes with biodegrading wiring loom then you are in for big bux wire could also have been damaged on refitting the light after changing bulb.

check the socket for corosion it could have a short in coroded lightbulb holeder.

not a merc thank goodness but i have a feeling it was in a accident before i got it cos sections of the paint are slightly different shades.

has the correct bulb been fitted.some have 1 contact and others have 2.not interchangeable. Are you using the correct size fuse.heavy enough to do the job.

Good advice but the Merc ???biodegradable wiring??? problem was only in the engine loom.

You fixed it! You must have removed the short when you were working on the taillight. (Like skin1235 suggested)
