1uz-fe vs 1uz-fe vvti

i have a early crown 1uz (74000km) being put in my car and the mechanic offered me a 2006 1uz-fe vvti with 140000km on it. he wants $2500 and all i really know is the vvti is another 20kw and variable valve timing.is it worth another $1500 assuming i can sell old one for around $1000-$1200

plus the vvti is an ugly bastard too.

Are you going to be doing any mods to the engine or keeping it stock! If you are going to keep it stock then stick with the cheaper option. The car isn't necessarily going to go up in value because you have the VVTI 1UZFE in there.

I don't consider the VVTI worth the extra work really. Same with the 1MZ V6 motors.

i was planning on cams and itbs and some head work before the vvti came up. ive heard vvti heads flow better but the old one has a stronger bottom end.
