pulled this 1980 xr200 out of the batch shed few weeks ago, cleaned the bird crap and dust off it. not run in years (maybe 6-10 years) which was due to farmer Jo taking the carb for some 3 wheeler farm bike. Any ideas on its worth! Apart from the missing carb and plastic side cover its complete (some other parts in box), has compression and spark, oil is golden. It has 2 bridgestone tires on it which look factory so maybe low km! be good if someone could confirm. Grandad who did know its history now has trouble counting to potato so he cant really help us. According to an an old reg tag, its reg was at one time in 1988/89 GP5X or GPSX

so no moisture got inside while carb off.!
Nice old thumper, good find - someone would love it. May appeal to those who wanted one in their youth, but like anything, worth what someone will pay for it, so had to put value on it.

it had an oily rag in the carb hole, and the exhaust had been removed to put an oily rag up that too, defiantly wasnt dry when i kicked it over with the plug out

cool, previous post meant to say 'hard to put value on it' incidentally.

Looks like a really original unmolested one, which would be rare. Probably quite collectable even though the later pro-link ones were a much better ride. I would guess $1250.

I might try find a carb and kick it in the guts and see what happens!

About $150 for a good 2nd hand carb (if you can find one) or $400 for a new carb, try econohonda, if you get it running mint and replace any missing parts I reckon you wouldget around $1500 -$2000 maybe more, pretty hard to find in this condition nowdays.

lol, I have chucked it on here under parts as it sits now, ideally I want to find a carb and get it running, if I can do that I will re-list it as a going motorbike in the motorbike section rather than in the parts section

I rebuilt a 96 xr 200 from parts a few years ago and looked at a carb off a 3 wheeler and it was different, I ended up gettingmalcolm at econohonda to find me an xr 200 carb, definitely be worth getting your bike running for sure.

is he serious! Surely its been sold outside TM and he's just put the reserve up to something stupid. On a good note, I have a carb on its way down here from up north :)

Used a XL125 carb to start because I didnt want to wait. Proper carb should be here later this week. It seems the cam chain is lose so rattles from that area but it goes! Will check the tensioner/chain out properly when I get it home. 1st start vid http://www.youtube.com/watch!v=V-R_mDqznHk
