Are they definitely non-interference engines! please no lectures about doing cambelt on time as we are skint this month.

They're interference, snap a belt and it will lunch itself, especially at revs. Here is a pretty picture of a bent valve in one

Cab belts and tensioner are not expensive on these engines and are easy to do . Park it up till you can afford it ,If the belt snaps it probably be a total rebuild .

The older 16v engines were non interference, 20v are interference.

I did a cambelt recently on one, $68 for a complete cambelt kit from BNT plus 3 hours work.

Our AW11 with a 16v destroyed a piston when a nearly (less than 1000km)
belt snapped .We were lucky as the place that did the belt fixed the engine .
just inconvenence to us
