if thats the case, make him sort it
if you do, he will miss out on the "learning" part of the experience

The problem with that is that he will run with the lost key thing and do nothing which means then I have to pick him up 3 nights a week half hour drive and he would rather that than have the scooter.

blacktulip-I had EXACTLYthe same problem with my son. He walked everywhere untill HE took the ignition into the locksmith and HE paid for a new key to be cut.

lol kaz, I know thats how Im meant to do it, but we are in the country, he scooters to school in the mornings three days a week, catches the bus intoo town to his mechanics course, then buses out back to school and gets there at 6pm, I made him walk home once when I was really shitty over something and he got home seriously well after dark, in fact I was thinking he had been abducted lol, it takes me half an hour to drive it! But with school the rest of the time I dont think it practical to make him walk 3 nights a week as much as I would like to! lol

Sorry tulip I don't agree but hey Im sure as heck not gonna tell anyone how to raise their kids. Another thought is to charge him "taxi" fare. Thats only fair as far as I can see given he is using your money and fuel. The tri=ouble is --you fix the scooter and pretty soon itll be something else

I know what youre saying, but a 3 1/2 - 4 hour walk 3 nights a week is probably asking a bit much on top of his school week, he may be 16 but i wouldnt be happy hav ing him on the road alone up to 10.30-11pm dependant on what time the bus gets back to school
