slow

stupid

& timid

bellky, Apr 8, 7:11am
Better than dead.

wrong2, Apr 8, 7:12am
we seem to have one here

bellky, Apr 8, 7:17am
Yip I go out on the road just to annoy all the stressed out poor sods.

socram, Apr 8, 7:50am
On my last trip to the UK, if they had nothing better to say, the digital overhead signs all said "Don't be a centre lane hog" or "Keep left unlessover taking".The irony is that the Britsh can't overtake on the left and generally do pull out to pass then return to the left lanes anyway!

Motorway left lane traffic appears to travel at about 100kph (the limit is 112km) but right lane traffic cruises at about 140kph and often up to just under 160kph and the police turn a blind eye - as long as the driving isn't aggressive.

The speed differential there is often less than here, where you have wombats doing 40kph and others doing 110kph, swapping lanes right left and centre - literally.UK accident rates on motorways overall are amongst the lowest in the world.Ours are not.I wonder why!

As far as I am aware there is no law prohibiting a loudspeaker being mounted behind your grille. I have often thought a decent amplifier and speaker mounted there would enable me to almost deafen the slow driver ahead with an instruction to pull over and let traffic past.Worth a shot, do you reckon!

flybye_in_a_rx7, Apr 8, 11:10am
definitely! they may mistaken you for a cop, but your still not immitating a cop so wont get done.

pollymay, Apr 8, 11:37am
I say go for it

tonyrockyhorror, Apr 8, 11:54am
I wouldn't bet against you.

It would be very easy to do to. Unmarked cop parked before passing lane signs checking the speed of lead vehicles. Another unmarked cop near the end of passing lanes ignoring the speeding vehicles (within reason) in the right lane checking the previously lead vehicle's speed against information relayed to them by the first cop.

maybe now the revenue gatherers(police)might realise they can make money out of slow drivers as well , so instead of pretending they care about road safety they could stalk rest home entrances and catch the oldies driving down the road a 20kph

bashfulbro, Apr 8, 12:26pm
A rather stupid comment from the Police spokesman.&quo-
t;People were getting frustrated."

He said the woman's driving meant the following nose-to-tail vehicles, driving at 60kmh-70kmh, were also a "recipe for disaster"

Any nose to tail crash, behind her,has absolutely nothing to do with the speed she was traveling at.
It`s no different from when Police close a road for any reason, road works, accidents etc, traffic builds up, and no matter how frustrated they may be, if someone runs up the arse of anyone, it is their own fault.

mugenb20b, Apr 8, 1:09pm
Nose to tail is not a problem. It's the frustrated people that start to take risks when passing or choosing when to pass.

mark.52, Apr 8, 2:57pm
Seems like one and the same thing to me.
Unaware = Inconsiderate. Amongst other things.

desmodave, Apr 8, 3:24pm
Sounds like you were out for a hoon on the Gn then

tonyrockyhorror, Apr 13, 10:53am
Man, if I was out for a hoon on the GN you'd see it on the News!

richardmayes, Apr 13, 11:02am
Good.

Jazz will be apoplectic, according to him the Police do nothing about slow disruptive drivers and merely sit on their chuffs issuing speeding fines to law-abiding citizens in order to boost crown revenue.

socram, Apr 13, 12:16pm
Spot on.

learner2, Apr 13, 2:09pm
we do not have fast lanes in NZ dork.

richardmayes, Apr 13, 2:20pm
On a road with multiple lanes, keep left unless passing - and that always applies whether there is a signpost with that written on it to remind you, or not! If you are not passing someone i.e. going faster than them, you should not be out there. So we effectively DO have "fast" lanes, just not in so many words and not by that particular name.

(And a free tip, as I don't think I've seen you around here much before. calling people "Dork" is no way to win friends or influence anyone. )

canajanz1, Apr 13, 10:57pm
My sister had one in her wee car that she used to tell people off .often pedestrians . a la Cosby and the voice of God
It usually achieved the desired effect . and if not it was at least amusing

clanky, Apr 14, 6:15am
Regarding 'fast' and 'slow' lanes, try standing in the 1st lane of the Southern Motorway and when the truck hits you, tell me it's going slow!

geoff_m, Apr 14, 6:35am
A passing lane wont help - even if you cna find such a thing. Putting a speed camera at the end of passing lanes is a favorite police money raiser. The one up the hill near Hampton Downs is a classic one.

geoff_m, Apr 14, 6:38am
I drive a large Mitsi Canter diesel campervan often (quiet you lot in the back). Not the fastest thing on the road, although we do sometimes pass people! I pull over when I can to let people past.
The trouble with pulling over is finding somewhere to do it saftly. When you are out, look at the side of the road, and consider ifit is safe to get a 8' wide truck over and out of the lane to allow people to pass. In most cases thre are large drop offs or ditches by the road.

xpfairmont, Apr 14, 6:55am
Good job, silly cow. I see this happen to many times but no tickets given
