Need to replace seal,have removed driveshaft,and found 1 1/4 nut,which isto be removed,have 3/4 drive socket,ready,is it right or left hand thread,tried with 1/2 drive,but cant shift it.Once nut off,how do i remove old seal!

Undo anticlockwise.Tap a thin screwdriver between the seal and diff houseing in a few places until you can lever the seal out.

I wouldn't be going between the seal and housing, if you hammer the screwdriver through the front edge of the seal where it turns the corner to go into the housing you should be able to lever it out without risking a gouge in the housing.

have you got a replacement seal !i tried to find one years ago and they were an obsolete part. Was going to do a vauxhall cresta gear change, only option was to build a nine inch diff.

OK have removed d/shaft,and removed nut,origional seal,nothing like replacement,taken digital photos of xisting,and reinstated d/shaft,so as to keep mobile,and will continue the hunt,thanks again to all.
