I own the Legnum and have for 7 years. Trading tomorrow looking at Nissan Wingroad. Pros and Cons please Motoring.

Why! They are both similar cars. Don'.t do it to save gas - false economy.

In you humble opinion. Go the Nissan ;-)

If the Legnum is a GDI, then good move. Which generation Wingroad you looking it!

Generically I will say the wingroad is a better vehicle mechanically. Power wise you will notice a difference. In all honesty I would look more at the avenir 1.8 than the wingroad if you like the power of the 1800
BUT that said-why do you want to change! If the mitzi is driving ok and owes you nothing. then I'd be sticking with what you've got.

you will miss the room space in a legnum that you don't get in a wingroad unless you are skinny-mid size. fuel economy wise, i must say even my 1993 1.6L manual 20V twin cam non turbo levin had better fuel economy than my 2001 auto wingroad. the wingroad is smoother to drive tthough. Is the mitsi giving you issue or something OP!

Wingroad by far, never owned either model but heard bad things about legnums in general. Plus Nissans are reliable as anything

At the risk of copping flack. I would buy something else entirely, they are both very average cars and don't stand out in any particular area, you can do a LOT better for your money.
The wingroad in particular is grossly over-hyped for what it is. It was a great car to import for dealers (and this I suspect is where the hype comes from) but not so great for the consumer.

^^^ If anyone wants to hear about the Punto or the Golf, they'll ask.
Have looked at a couple of Wingroads on the yards. Jazz appears to be absolutely right, all these bland little cars do is illustrate that the more basic Japanese cars have not really come very far AT ALL in the last 15 years.

Legnums are notoriously unreliable electrical problems, mechanical issues, issues with the tiptronic gearbox and if it is GDI on our petrol in NZ will need servicing twice as often to keep the carbon from clogging up filters and lines.Go with the wingroad! Nissan have a great reputation and they deserve it their cars are solid and super reliable!

I do love my Legnum had it for 7 years too. Great car all round, but it is an old design. The latest model Wingroad is a decade newer in design; it will be more advanced in all aspects including handling and crash safety. Also cleaner emissions, etc. Go for the Wingroad if it is the latest model.

HEY GUYS-- keep in mind the OP OWNS the legnum and has done so for a few years. On that basis the wrinkles will have been worked out and unless its dying I just can't see a reason to invest a big chunk of coininto a newer car. --Hmmm the used car salesmans club has asked me to send back my gold chains to the club--bad form advising keeping a car

All of the above is the reason for moving on. she also in the last year has had alot more mechanical work. so time to move on.

decade newer in design you reckon.considering it is based on the UK primera estate wagon from 1990.
But is must be good, if they also sold it as a mazda and a subaru.
You will need a 2006 onwards if you want a platform upgrade.

what exactly has been done to the legnum if you already have spent big bucks on it is it worth cutting your losses and changing. if you have already spent coin on the legnum it may be better just to run it into the ground and then upgrade when it completly dies
