Its a bit of a pain in the bum in the Tron but its entirely worth it and most people are pretty gracious about the whole inconvenience of it all. Its the only time I have been in the Tron when the V8's have been on and its shame it is the last time. Though was it all the complaining or the fact it is losing money that was the deciding factor!

Either way, its a credit to little old Hamilton that it managed to host this event.

there was no money in it. cant blame them for walking away if people arent prepared to support it enough to give it future viability

kazbanz, Apr 22, 1:04pm
It does actually look like the people of dorkland and wellywood got it right when they kicked up a stink about loss of buisiness and loss of access BEFORE things gathered momentum.
Its all great and wonderfull being a competitor or spectator who can walk away. But the companies that lost thousands because customers couldnt get to them whilst the event is on -and during the lead up/breakdown period sure aint thanking hamilton council.
But hey its for the "greater good"--tell that to the guy who can't put food on the table because noone can get to his workshop

Here's an idea - try and stay with me on this one - Why not have the racing event on a racetrack! You know the thing - a purpose-built facility expressly used for the high-speed racing of motor vehicles, in an area that is easy to get to, but doesn't impact on surrounding businesses because the roads don't get closed and so on.I've an idea there are a couple fairly handy to Auckland which may require a little bit of upgrade/renovation/extension/w-
hateverin order to meet certain requirements for particular classes of racing, why not just get on with it and then everybody (more or less) will be happy.

saxman you should know better than to bring logic here, this place thrives on the illogical and brooks no logical input

tonyrockyhorror, Apr 22, 1:47pm
It was rrrse anyway with the visual barriers all around the track.

v8_mopar, Apr 22, 1:52pm
They should bring it to Christchurch.
We dont have any shops in the cbd

saxman99, Apr 22, 1:53pm
Oh right, yes. Sorry - as you were.

tonyrockyhorror, Apr 22, 1:58pm
How would that be a street circuit event!

bill-robinson, Apr 22, 5:39pm
why a street circuit! they are rubbish for proper racing. Doh it is for v8,s

jason18, Apr 22, 5:42pm
Be some mean jumps too!

wizzbikz, Apr 22, 6:02pm
Plus the drivers could also say the track was a bit shakey in turn 1.2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,and over the finish line .
