How many people caught up with the class 1 licence changes that kicked in on April 1st! A full class 1 licence holder can now drive a vehicle with a GVM of not more than 6000kg, up from 4500kg. Class 1 learners and restricted licence holders are still limited to a maximum GVM of 4500kg other than a tradesmans vehicle or motorhome which are allowed a maximum GVM of 6000kg but must not exceed and actual weight of 4500kg. There are also a few new regs about tractors and combinations. Just filling in the folks who may have missed it

Tidys a lot of loose ends up. A lot of 6000kg GVM vehicles are just like a big car these days anyway

At last a govt that makes common sense practical changes that need to be made, better than that last lot that spent nine long years trying to inject social engineering on us all.

Yes but have the clowns in Wellington changed the law that a log book must be filled in for any vehicle over 3500kgs!
Good luck on actually working out if you need a logbook or not.I think not but what's the bet that plod will think you do.

Seems kinda straight forward.! Which bit is confusing for a private operator!
