Remember going to Western Springs Speedway, 1940s/50s . In those early years the top motors were Ford V8 60s. One of them running on 8 was the sweetest sound to our young ears.
Many years later when I owned one, (for about 3 weeks) my opinion changed.

Mine idles like that when cold, smooths out a little when hot and with mufflers. Been driving it for nearly 27 years with no hassles. The dough I spent. I wanted too.
No matter how old or new, running costs are the same. Fuel is the only variable.
