Overpriced wrecks

I find it increasingly insulting the unbelievable prices some sellers are listing their vehicles for .mainly old wrecks that in some cases aren't worth a tenth of the asking price ! Do they think if someone offers half the price the buyer will think they are getting a bargain ! Come on !

pebbles61, Apr 28, 4:29pm
They seem to do it for the old yank tanks. I wouldn't pay anything near what they ask for them lol.

kazbanz, Apr 28, 4:35pm
murray--do ya mean that cars in a certain price range have gone UP in price--gawsh I neva woulda thunk that

franc123, Apr 28, 4:37pm
The stupid thing is that you can often pick up decent original examples that need no obvious work for the same price or less, yet they still seem to think that they can ask the same for some molested and incomplete POS just because is is allegedly desirable and might fetch good money in the future.

pebbles61, Apr 28, 4:53pm
Or the people who spent $10k restoring the car suddenly think that 10k has been added to the value lol

trogedon, Apr 28, 5:05pm
An example would be!

kazbanz, Apr 28, 5:07pm
ohh no the very BEST is the boy racer type thast thinks that the lowering kit, boom box sound system,Blow off valve, and 18 inch chromes add MORE value to the car than the cost to them of the parts.

pebbles61, Apr 28, 5:12pm
Some of them don't really think do they! I recall viewing a Triumph 2000, where the young lad thought it'd be super cool to chop the front springs.he was selling it as it had failed it's WOF lol

Dreams are free. Some dudes do advertise "offers" then their number in hopes to get chicks to text them but very rare do i see this on the back of a car driven by a chick. Failing that they advertise here on tm with no real intention to sell but to harvest chicks number for 30 bucks a listing. Cheaper thsn buying every chick they try to pick up a drink while clubbing i spose.

un_known, Apr 28, 7:15pm
lol we all what sort of chicks are attracted to a guy because of the car he drives.skanks and golddiggers.hence why BOV's are known as Skank Whistles.

truckr, Apr 29, 6:17am
i agree even with deregisteredcars they asking same price as legal one

pebbles61, Apr 29, 8:38am
This is true. You see them all the time saying "won't take much to get on the road etc".so why haven't you done it already! lol

franc123, Apr 29, 8:53am
Even funnier is the "haven't got the time to fix it" or "got too many projects" line that they trot out. Why don't they come clean and say "this POS is in far worse condition than I thought, I was given it and I want to hock it off to you for silly money as it is because it will be worth heaps when its done up, the problem is that I don't have the gear, money, knowhow, parts, money, skills, money, motivation, money, facilities, money anddetermination to turn it into a showcar"

pebbles61, Apr 29, 9:09am
lol so true. "Oh cock, I didn't think it'd be this bad! here I'll just bog it up a bit and sell it onto the next sucker!"

xpfairmont, Apr 29, 10:34am
I like how people sell 90's Falcons XR8's etc saying "soon to be a classic"
Not bloody likely!

bellky, Apr 29, 10:40am
I think the early ones will - EB GT, EL GT, Sprint already are.

gunhand, Apr 29, 10:42am
Awww I dont know about that. The first of the XR6s/8s in good nick are hard to find now. Once that happens they do indeed go up in price as history tells us over and over some of the the most mundain cars are suddenly sort after.
XDs and VBs are slowly going up in price as well.
May take a while but eventually good examples run out.

neo_psy, Apr 29, 10:52am
Maybe you shouldn't take it so personally - it's a free world.

cfs, Apr 29, 12:52pm
So.my Falcon Sprint (ED) - with 135K on the clock -is getting more valuable. Cool!

vjregal770, Apr 29, 12:56pm
Why do you find it "insulting"! People can put whatever $$ they like, if no-one buys, they joke's on them.

gunhand, Apr 29, 1:07pm
If its an unmolested and in extremly tidy condition and the KMs keptlow well yes theres no reason to believe it may not go up in price. Most have reached bottom doller as it is so that means good ones can only go up as they get harder to find. Ive already seen some dealers asking more for EL XR6s than later model XR6s.

n1smo_gtir, Apr 29, 4:13pm
nt wrong there=D

murray55, Apr 29, 4:23pm
Very true .what I find grating though is the assumption that people who genuinely use trademe are idiots who have no idea what a vehicle is worth . or cant see that some wreck needs a total rebuild (at some enormous cost) and in fact is not 98% complete !

kaituna, Apr 29, 9:27pm
When I was a mechanic years ago, those things were horrendus. I don't immagine it will be better with age.
