I have had my car for two years now and it has had the last 3 W.O.F's from VTNZ.On Saturday I didn't make it in time to go to the usual VTNZ that I do go to but managed to find one not far away that was still open. They failed it saying that my headlight bulbs are illegal and I am to replace them.I asked when the law changed and he answered that the law had not changed. So I asked why he had failed the W.O.F when another VTNZ had been passing the car previously.Has anyone else had a problem like this before!

Study the VIRM and see if previous inspectors were wrong or the current one is wrong. What's the issue!

The guy at the VTNZ suggested that I had modified the headlights and I had advised him that I am the first NZ owner of the vehicle and it had only been on the country for a week and it was like it when I got it from Turners Car Auctions. The issue is that VTNZ passed the last 3 W.O.F's and this time failed it over headlights that had not changed.

Some are just not as smart as others. I had the same problem with my cert, ever garage passed it and accepted the cert. One garage tried to make get another one, because he didn't think it was right. So with the the certifier on my side we set him straight. But what a long battle it was on my on. grr

I was thinking of taking into the usual VTNZ and ask if they could check my headlights out and see what they say if I ask if it would pass a WOF.

Are they HID bulbs in non HID Headlights! If so they should fail. Law Changed about a year ago.

With VTNZ you can have your recheck at any branch so easy answer is to have the recheck done at usual branch and see what happens.
