I have an old RMX250 I have rebuilt. I bought a complete gasket set and notice a kind of O-Ring in there and am wondering if it fits onto the front of the exhaust pipe. Any ideas!

could be for a few things, though when i bought a gasket kit for my CR, it didnt come with exhaust stuff.
Usually there is a ribbed rubber grommet thingy that sits inside each of the joins in the exhaust pipe where it slips together.
The O ring you are talking about will more than likely be for a water item.
On the cylinder, on the intake side, is there a metal pipe that is for water hoses! - if so you will probably be held on by a couple of 8mm or 100 bolts. undo them, and youll find an Oring inside - Id bet thats what its for.
Bit hard to be sure without knowing year and model etc though

I don't understand. If you don't know where it's from, where did you fit it therefore requiring you to take it off again!
