Whats the deal with pink stickers?

motorboy2011, May 3, 10:53am
if a car is pick stickered, what the rules and how is it removed!

smac, May 3, 10:56am
WoF from TSDA agent (VTNZ, VINZ, AA).

motorboy2011, May 3, 11:04am
and the car can be driven to/from the wof!

fiatracer, May 3, 11:06am
I'd tell you, but instead I spent my valuable time typing "pink sticker" into google.

darryl, May 3, 11:52am
The officer would have said 'the car can not be driven on the road'

smac, May 3, 11:55am
As would the paper work.

People seem to think the whole "can drive with no WOF if on the way to get one" is some kinda cover all exemption. There's a little kicker in the rules, that says "If safe to do so"! Copper (rightly or wrongly) has already said it's NOT safe to do so, hence the sticker.

But if you had rectified the issues and were on the way to get a warrant so the car is now safe to do so!

darryl, May 3, 12:34pm
Not until the pink sticker is removed by authorised inspectors.

smac, May 3, 12:35pm
The paper work still says not to be driven until inspected (from memory.). I'd say get in touch with the issuing officer.

So is that the main reason between a green and a pink sticker! one can be driven in while the other has to be towed/trailered !

smac, May 3, 12:38pm
The difference is green means not up to regs, pink means unsafe. SO 'not up to regs' will sometimes be allowed to drive under certain circumstances (eg busted headlights, told to drive during daylight). Up to the issuer to specify conditions.

Just ignore the pink sticker if it doesn't go with your shoes and handbag.

hamishcookie, May 3, 1:08pm
What are the stickers you see on cars broken down on the motorway! Usually on the back window!

rob_man, May 3, 1:22pm
I thought they were Post-it for sale signs.

Some good advice there^ from someone in the know.

smac, May 3, 1:31pm
No idea.closest motorway to me is a few hundred k's away. I'd guess maybe a tow notice of some sort. i.e get your car before X or it's gone burger.

hamishcookie, May 3, 1:36pm
I'm so surprised my first starlet never got pinkied. Much simpler days when I was younger and I'm not even that old lol.

tonyrockyhorror, May 3, 3:02pm
Just a notice to remove within 7 days (might be shorter) and a visual sign to other Police that the vehicle has been checked by one of them.

Stick a black sticker over the pink sticker so you cant see it. Its gone. Problem solved.

hamishcookie, May 4, 10:43am
Cheers, always wondered but not enough to stop and have a gander

thewomble1, May 4, 1:12pm
you have to give way to the green stickered cars
